George, A horseman for nearly two decades, I have come to appreciate the serenity of Virginia's rolling hills and green fields. For me as for many of my fellow Virginian Sportsmen, our countryside is an escape from the many tedious tasks and responsibilities that occupy the rest of our lives. Voting in my first election this November, it is of utmost importance that the candidate I chose to lead my state is one who is firmly dedicated to the protection of this open space. On this issue I will tolerate no horsing around! Not only is Mark Warner a great supporter of environmental protection, he also embodies the qualities of true Virginian virtue. He is an innovator, seeking the betterment of our childrens' education, while providing a safer place for us to raise them with a stricter, more definitive approach to crime prevention and punishment. He understands that government program cannot provide the solution to all of Virginia's problems; ensuring fiscal responsibility by our state legislators, yet he guarantees that under his watch, strong leadership by these same legislators will be a focal point of his gubenatorial responsibilities. With these issues at the fore front of Warner's campaign, it was an easy decision to saddle up and ride for the candidate who in my mind is the clear leader of this political horse race from wire to wire. A governor like Mark Warner will give my generation hope for the political future! Zach Miller (electronic mail, July 29, 2001). ![]() Editor's Note: A hearty thanks to Zach Miller, whose horse patiently jumped the Mark Warner sign [top], seven or eight times running. The sign was lowered to the height of the bar to prevent damage to the sign. For the picture at the bottom, Zach galloped past the Mark Warner sign
repeatedly, so that I could get enough shots to create an animated gif --
demonstrating just what lengths Sportsmen and Sportswomen will go to show
their support for Mark Warner for Governor.
