Some Sunday morning thoughts ---

What a convention we had on Saturday!!! It felt good to be part of it.

Thanks to the organizers---Will Harvey, Lloyd Snook, Rus Perry, the Chairs from all the regions --- for running a very smooth convention, keeping us from our historic "discussions" about rules, etc. Everyone left feeling fairly heard. The format worked and we should be proud of it.

Thanks again to Alex and Kevin for setting the stage for a civil convention with the forum they so ably convened.

Thanks to all the candidates. Over and over I heard what a qualified group we were. It's that kind of participation that invigorates the Democratic Party.

Thanks to all the people who worked at tables registering everyone. When I saw that crowd, I wondered if we could manage it, but you all did.

Thanks to the counters who were quick with the adding machines, calculators, and computers. Especially thanks to Lloyd, with his spreadsheet!

Thanks to all who came, making it an exciting event to be part of. The energy from the people in the room feed all of the candidates' vigor and energy --- what a difference a crowd makes!!!! For those who were new to the process, welcome and please stay --- we want you.

Thanks to all those who supported me in my bid for the nomination. It was fun to be working together and I loved every minute of it!

We now have the before us the election of Creigh Deeds. Certainly an exciting task, one in which we can all participate with enthusiasm and look forward to a victory on December 18th. I, for one, feel energized by the convention and confident of a win. Let's go for it!

For victory in December,

Nancy O'Brien (electronic mail, November 11, 2001).
