Hi George,

Despite what you posted on your web site, no one should think for a second that any candidate has any locality "locked up" at Saturday's nominating caucus for the 25th District Senate seat. The decision will not be made in a back room somewhere, it will be made on the caucus floor. All candidates should therefore be doing everything they can to turn out as many supporters as they can. My guess is that Saturday is going to be a free-for-all -- any of the candidates has a realistic shot at this thing. It will certainly make for fascinating political theater. And whoever gets the nomination is sure to make mincemeat of his/her Republican opponent in December.

One last thing. We locals are used to having a very knowledgeable and accessible State Senator in Emily Couric. I think it's perfectly reasonable for those of us on the eastern side of Afton Mountain (who make up the bulk of District residents) to want a State Senator who is familiar with our community and is a regular presence in our community. Certainly any of the candidates would be able to represent us adequately, but knowledge of local issues and accessibility to local residents is another thing entirely. Just something to keep in mind.
