Hi George,

Golly ... I left town for a couple of days and returned only to find myself impaled on the sharp wit of my good friend John Conover! And all I said was that Creigh Deeds was a pretty good candidate. Ouch!

At the risk of being skewered again, let me just say that Creigh Deeds' support of issues of great importance to non-urban areas is an example of his understanding and appeal to the voters of the areas Democrats have been consistently losing for over a decade in Virginia.

Our "urban enclave" strategy has brought total disaster--costing us control of both houses of the General Assembly and delivering a redistricting plan that threatens to cement Republican control for decades to come. I think Creigh Deeds can begin to lead us back to the promised land.

One other important note -- let's turn out the vote this Tuesday for all of our Democratic candidates.

Best Wishes,

Tom Vandever (electronic mail, November 1, 2001).
