We will need more people this election because we hope to be testing new voting equipment and will need extra bodies to educate the voters on the new equipment.

(b) The Voting machine techs will be learning how to operate, service and maintain the new equipment.

(c) We will be doing more satellite sites with the new equipment

(d) With the only 2 fulltime people out of the office at satellite sites, the office will need to be staffed.

(e) In addition to the required advertising in 3 newspapers, Daily Progress, Observer and Tribune, there will need to be extra ads talking about new equipment testing and extra satellite sites.

(f) The State Board of elections starting at this election will now send us all Election Day materials to print in duplicate for each precinct. For example, our alpha roster is @750 pages long. Also, by law we need 1 election official guide for each person and it is 20 pages long on 11 x 14 sheets of paper.

(g) Since we have some precincts that are not ADA compliant (Doors are too heavy as required by law) we will have high school pages at each precinct to open doors, make sure voters have ID or affirmation form filled out etc. They get paid living wage since they will work for the city. (Sheri Iachetta, General Registrar, September 21, 2001)
