Thursday, August 3, 2000: All interested UVa employees as well as members of LAG are invited to meet with Delegate Michael Van Yahres at noon, on Thursday, August 3, in Room 481 Newcomb Hall. The meeting will last one hour. LAG will offer its critique of the new "broad-band, pay-for-performance" pay plan, after which a general discussion with Delegate Van Yahres will follow. As the following letter indicates, Delegate Van Yahres is particularily interested in how the new plan will be implemented in the hospital. Thursday, August 3, 2000: The Charlottesville School Board will have a "second (final)reading" on a proposal to add sexual orientation to the non-discrimination policy for students and employees on Thursday, August 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Media Center at Charlottesville High School. Word has it that members of the Family Policy Network, a statewide affiliate of the American Family Association, have mobilized against the proposal and will be in attendance. Tuesday, August 8, 2000: Vice-President Al Gore (D) will unveil his choice of a running mate for President on August 8th, after the conclusion of the Republican National Convention.
