On Friday, May 26, 2000, there was a blast of a party wishing fond farewells to famed Daily Progress reporter Davide Dukcevich. Toasted and roasted by all ends of the political spectrum, Davide leaves The Daily Progress on Thursday to write for the web site of Forbes Magazine in New York City.

While he will sorely be missed, it is always good to see one more fellow traveler move to New York to take care of business. Perhaps, while in New York, he will even make Hillary's e-mail list.

(Left to Right) Dale McGlothlin, Tyler Sewell, Davide Dukcevich, Virginia Daugherty, John Conover, and Bob Gibson

Mayor Virginia Daugherty and former city councilor John Conover presented Davide with a copy of Richard Rorty's Achieving Our Country to see him on his way.

What with school board appointments and her Hemings Street proposal, the mayor has a full schedule before she herself leaves office on July 1st.

A Meeting of the Minds between Republican Dale McGlothlin and Democrat Kevin Lynch

However, we should remain in good hands with Republican city chair wantabe Dale McGlothlin and the city's newest Democratic city councilor Kevin Lynch watching the store.

In a side note, editor of The Observer Sydney Burtner will be leaving to do graduate work at New York University (Sydney Burtner, The Observer, May 30-June 6, 2000).

Please send all toasts and roasts of Sydney Burtner, Davide Dukcevich and/or Virginia Daugherty to george@loper.org and the most representative will be posted with full attribution.
