Hi George -

The problem with aggressive children's games [such as musical chairs] is that one assumes a level playing field. It is assumed that if the loser would just try a little harder they too can be a winner. The fact that the term inadequacy would even be used in the context of a children's game is telling. Instead of teaching children to value each others' unique attributes, we teach them to focus on weaknesses and devalue their playmates. Should games such as these be banned? No, instead people of moral character should come up with new activities which build up rather than tear down people.
