George,

My daughter, almost 14-year-old grand-daughter and I contributed only to the coffers of local merchants on Black Friday - we went downtown, ate at Christians, shopped (very minimally) at KLH Hightower (the teenager's favorite store in town) and enjoyed the local vendors showing their wares for the Holiday Market on the Mall - daughter says she thinks she'll come back with a friend one of the weekends before Christmas just to take in the Market!

We think we balanced the Buy Nothing Day concept fairly well by buying locally - hope we're forgiven!

Sue Lewis (electronic mail, November 28, 2000).
