Dyan Aretakis, project director of the Teen Health Center at U.Va., and Mary Sullivan planned this after the first one in 1998 was evaluated so positively, and believe this one will be even better than our first effort which drew about 240 physicians, social workers, educators, clergy, parents from across VA, NC, and WV.

The two morning speakers are Stephanie Ferguson, Ph.D. (if the WHO does not call her to Geneva) and Laura Sessions Stepp, a Washington Post journalist who won a Pulitzer for her series on teens and their families, and who recently published Our Last Best Shot about early adolescence.

Afternoon breakout session speakers include Ron Heller on teens and depression, Peter Sheras on violence and teen culture, Alicia Lugo on teen pregnancy prevention, Brenda Brown-Grooms on teens and faith issues, and Katie Tarbox, author of Katie.com , and others. Lunchtime will bring roundtable discussions on a number of different topics as well.

Since our first conference was SRO for some sessions, registration is limited this time, and we are receiving registrations now. If you want a brochure, call Mary Sullivan at 296-5415 or e-mail pam2n@virginia.edu, the U.Va. Continuing Medical Education office. Thanks to MJH for their support of the conference!
