News from Mary McNeil:

McIntire Golf Course -- where you can be prosecuted for trespassing if you're not armed with a club -- will be opened to plain old pedestrians beginning this Sunday, October 13th, from 12 - 6pm.

The Sunday afternoon openings will continue indefinitely while the McIntire Park Steering committee gives tours of the area and solicits input from the public on Park design.

The Park was given to the city way back in the early years of the 20th century by Paul Goodloe McIntire, and though often threatened, cut up, and otherwise desecrated, still has a special charm.

It is particularly beautiful in the fall as you can see from Reuben Rainey's beautiful photographs which can be seen at http://www.earthsystems.org/stamp/html/McIntire/Rainey/index.html.

So come out on Sunday to see what all the fuss is about -- without getting bonked on the head!
