"My nephew's wife's brother died in the second tower to collapse. He was a 34 year old fireman (with three kids) whose job was to look for poison gas or chemicals. Apparently, he was on his way up when the building came down. My brother went to his funeral service in Milford, NJ; his wife was handed a flag and a small box containing some dirt from Ground Zero. None of his remains were ever found. I must admit, I am still angry that my government, that had so much warning, let us down. From the Oval Office on down, the warnings were there!The terrorists had already bombed the WTO, they had blown up the "USS Cole", they blew up the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, they blew up two embassies in Africa; killing 232 people. All the terrorists who were involved in the 9-11 attack, had their pictures in every newspaper in America ... literally hours after the horror ... why weren't those pictures in the hands of every airline ticket counter, flight attendent, pilot, ground crew, check-in podium, ticket taker etc.? The FBI had warning after warning that Middle East men were in flight schools. They had one in custody in Minneapolis. A terrorist in the Phillipines was held in custody, his lap top computer was stuffed with US airline timetables! Before 9-11! A study of lapses in airport security was done by a former pilot .. he forwarded his report to the FAA and got a "not invented here" letter in response .. the letter was forwarded to the office of the Vice-President, and either forgotten or "lost"... it listed the worst airports .. they were Logan International, Newark International, Dulles International, and John F. Kennedy International, in that order, followed by several more. He gave specific dates and specific lapses; such as carrying weapons through the metal detector by two people passing together .. only one stopped. Bush was briefed on August 6, 2001, by his terrorist specialist, and his response was to fly off to Crawford,Texas for a month long vacation. He was told that "something big" was in the works! He is the Commander and Chief! In the Navy, if the commander's ship should run aground or something bad happens. He is ultimately responsible. Even if he is asleep in his bunk! Thecaptain of the "USS Greenville"(submarine) that surfaced and hit a Japanese fishing boat, that sunk........is now an ex-Naval officer! He lost everything. But not our Commander and Chief ... he is too busy taking the focus off his malfeasance by fixating on Saddam, while we never hear anything more about Osama bin Laden or the Taliban! Meanwhile, Iran is now the center for Al Qaeda ... but that is another matter, or another war! Just think if Clinton had "dropped the ball" like this! He was impeached for lying about having a stupid affair with an intern! So, I will mourn the victims of 9-11, but I will not forget or forgive those whose job it is to follow through,everybody can make a big deal after it happens. And ...
