George,

I wanted to give you a little more info on the whole JMU redirection thing. I did a quick whois lookup:

-bash-2.05b$ whois jamesmadisonuniversity.com
Domain Name: JAMESMADISONUNIVERSITY.COM
Registrar: ENOM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.enom.com
Referral URL: http://www.enom.com
Name Server: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS3.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS4.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Name Server: DNS5.NAME-SERVICES.COM
Status: ACTIVE
Updated Date: 15-apr-2003
Creation Date: 02-jun-2002
Expiration Date: 02-jun-2004

Now, what's interesting is that if JMU really did register the domain, they didn't do it until last year. If I had to guess, I'd venture that JMU either never registered the domain or let it expire.

What's certain is who now controls the domain:

Registrant Contact-
High Traffic Pro-Life Domains only $999
Pro- Life Domains inc. (tomk668@aol.com)
718-543-3664
FAX- none
5444 Arlington Ave.
#g14
Bronx, NY 10471 US

Now, I'm not an intellectual property attorney (although I was pretty involved in the litigation to sucessfully defend our trademarks) but there's something to note here: if JMU sues, this guy has pretty much already eliminated his "free speech" defense. The contact info implies that the domain is for sale, so he really is engaging in commece on the back of JMU's mark, not just expressing a point of view. Bad idea.

Frankly, I'm surprised that JMU hasn't filed for an injunction to shut this guy down yet.

Hope this is helpful.
