George,

As a long time advocate for a living wage, I was outraged to see that a business owner IN OUR OWN COMMUNITY (Mr. Yepez of El Girasol) is not paying a living wage or even a minimum wage; more to the point was not paying ANYTHING to a hard worker in our town. A man who is trying to support his family. To make a life for himself and his family here. On $2.40 an hour???? Are you KIDDING me? Why is this business owner still in business? Why on EARTH would anyone eat at his establishment?

I am sick at heart and I pray that the Justice Center kicks some ass. I can only hope that Mr. Omelas gets his $17K and more that he is owed. I am glad someone is standing up for this worker. Just tell me when the court date is and I will be there to show my support. Anytime, anywhere.

I can only hope Mr. Omelas was receiving his tips that he was due. I am also glad that he is standing up and speaking out and is not afraid. That he is brave. I salute him and I support him.

I wonder how many more workers in our community are being exploited? And people ask me WHY DO WE NEED UNIONS IN CHARLOTTESVILLE?

Give me a BREAK. It is painfully obvious that service workers in our town need representation. Restaurant workers, hotel workers, housekeepers.

I will hope Mr. Yepez goes out of business VERY soon. Rest assured no one in our union will be patronizing his business nor will anyone else that I can get a hold of.
