"Cville Indymedia hosted its launch party Tuesday, February 24 at the Twisted Branch Tea House. We had an excellent and diverse attendance of people interested in independent media. CvilleIndymedia operates a website at cvilleindymedia.org. Anyone can post news there. The site also has a calendar where anyone can post their events. Everyone is encouraged to use the calendar and the site. The site operates on the principle of “open publishing”, which means anyone can post to the site. In general, we will edit the site as little as possible. We will remove or edit postings that are openly racist, hateful or intended to sabatoge the site.

Our party-goers were entertained by Kind Stranger, as well as Sarah White and the Pearls. We thank them for their support.

CvilleIndymedia is part of the rapidly growing independent media network that now encircles the globe. There are independent media sites in many American cities, and in countries across the world. You can link to our site from any other indymedia site, and to the global network from our site.

CvilleIndymedia sees its mission to bring independent media off all forms to the central VA area. We are circulating a petition to request that WTJU carry Democracy Now!, a hard-hitting news program that grew out of the Pacifica Foundation. If you want to see Democracy Now! on Charlottesville radio, please email a statement to that effect to lexus51@juno.com

CvilleIndymedia plans to bring the truths repressed by corporate media to radio, television and print in your area. Stay tuned."
