George,

I was thrilled to see a prominent mention of the local Fluvanna artist, Tom Tartaglino, in your most recent website update (11/19/04). I've collected Tom's paintings for years, and I am delighted that the local "media" is finally taking notice of one of the more exceptional artists I've come across from NYC to San Francisco and back.

Tom is that rare combination; a down-to-earth person who is both interesting and interested in others and a painter whose perspective is both sophisticated and joyous. Technically he is a master, his landscapes and (my personal favorites) carscapes are not just detailed, they are absolutely alive. Every painting is imbued with subtle social commentary; but unlike the rest of us who have succumbed to our jaded, disenchanted culture, Tom's view of the world is filled with intelligent, thoughtful optimism.

Every painting tells a story and nothing is mundane. Even a supermarket construction site or a trailer park is a still life of glorious color, form and light. Tom Tartaglino's art is universal in the best possible way; it is both accessible and intellectual...and beautiful.
