"On April 12, the 2005 Jefferson Muzzle Awards were announced "honoring" those individuals and institutions that committed some of the more egregious or ridiculous acts of censorship in the past year. For 14 years, the Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression has celebrated the April birth date of its namesake by bestowing the dubious distinction of a Muzzle on those who forgot or disregarded the principles of free expression. The "winners" of the 2005 Jefferson Muzzles are...

The Federal Communications Commission, The Democratic [think free speech zone] and Republican [think 1821 arrests] National Parties, The U.S. Marshals Service, The United States Department of State and The United States Department of Homeland Security, The Virginia House of Delegates [for House Bill 2797 and House Bill 1981], Alabama State Representative Gerald Allen, Georgia State Representative Ben Bridges School, officials at Poway High School (CA), Climax Public School District (MN), and Russell High School (KY) High School of Legal Studies in Brooklyn (NY), The (Motion Picture) Classification and Rating Administration, The National Stock Car Racing Commission (NASCAR)
