Saturday, February 25: 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Living Wage Organizing Workshop Come meet with students from across Virginia to discuss the importance of pushing for a living wage at your college and learn strategies for organizing successful campaigns. (Although the workshop is geared to college campuses, others interested in working on living wage issues are welcome!) With keynote speaker Barbara Ehrenreich, author of the award-winning book "Nickel and Dimed"

Saturday, February 25: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Voter Registration and Mobilization Drive sponsored by the Dave Norris campaign, at the Gordon Avenue Library in Charlottesville. "Join us for a fun and rewarding day of direct outreach to low income neighborhoods (including all public housing neighborhoods in the city). We are targeting these areas because they are currently underrepresented in the local political process and because the issues facing these communities will be Dave's priorities for City Council.

"We will assemble at 11:00am at the Gordon Avenue Library for breakfast, coffee, and volunteer training. We will then divide into neighborhood teams and canvass door-to-door and at community sites to register voters, talk with residents about Dave's campaign, and encourage them to attend the Democratic Nominating Convention on 4 March. Wednesday, March 8: 1:30 pm at the Northside Library in Albemarle Square Shopping Center Susan Seidler will introduce the SeniorNavigator website and demonstrate how to use the site to answer aging questions. SeniorNavigator is a statewide non-profit whose website contains 19,000 local programs and services as well as articles and links to related websites for seniors, their families and caregivers.

Topics include health and aging issues, financial concerns, legal questions, housing and long-term care, caregiving and more. Other features include a list of relevant General Assembly legislation with summaries of the bills and links to the full texts.

Saturday, May 20: Fifth District Convention in Buckingham County (Location TBD). Business to be conducted includes selection of nominee to run for Congress. Each local committee will need to have a caucus on either a Saturday or Monday between April 17 and April 29, 2006, for the purpose of selecting delegates to the convention.

Tuesday, June 13: Primary Elections in Virginia. Democrats will select a nominee to run against George Allen for the U.S. Senate.
