Dear George and readers,

Finally, the Federal Court in Charlottesville is hearing my case against the University of Virginia, Tuesday, February 27th. This isn’t “the” final trial; rather, a Hearing on Motions for Summary Judgment.

It’s important. During this hearing, a federal judge will hear arguments from both sides. Unlike a trial, there will be no jury, witnesses, etc. Instead, we will hear compelling arguments from both sides. Much battling has taken place over the past year+ to get us to this point. This event will decide if my case will remain in federal court and be heard during a four day jury trial scheduled in late March. UVA is trying to get it dismissed; and, of course, my side is fighting to keep it in. If it goes my way, this could mean the beginning of the end of my ordeal. If it goes their way, I will have to appeal their decision; and, remain in this awful and expensive battle longer, possibly, much longer.

My attorney, Deborah Wyatt, and I request your attendance at this hearing. Your attendance will place appropriate pressure on the judge to recognize that the issues of Freedom of Speech, labor, workers rights, and corporate bullying are items of community concern that we all care about. It will demonstrate to UVA that although they are the company in our “company town," they are subject to the laws of this land.
