Monthlong: During the month of June, Sojourners United Church of Christ will celebrate Gay Pride Month. Planned activities include sermons; reflections by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender members of the congregation; an after-worship adult forum entitled “Homosexuality and the Bible;” a rainbow-themed picnic and a performance by the Charlottesville Women’s Choir. Please join us Sunday mornings for worship at 9:30 a.m. at Sojourners UCC, 1017 Elliott Avenue. Saturday, June 2: 8:30 am to 2:00 pm Rain or Shine National Trails Day 2007 Celebration. Gathering spot: Rivanna Trail trailhead on Melbourne Road, near the Charlottesville High School football field.Activities for all ages, all skill levels. Trail building in and around McIntire Park, stream clean-ups, special construction projects.

Participation is FREE but email dfoster@newventure.com by May 20th so we can plan food and projects.

Attire: Long pants, long sleeves, work gloves. Boots or old shoes if you want to work in a stream. Bring drinking water and a mid-morning energy snack. Bring the following tools if you have them: work gloves, hand clippers, pruning loppers, pruning saw, garden rake, shovel, hoe, mattock, and pick. RTF will also provide tools.

Saturday, June 2: 11:00 am to 2:00 pm or so. Fluvanna County Democrats' Strawberry Social. At the home of Supervisor Marvin Moss on Rte 15 in Palmyra. Information, directions at the Fluvanna Democrats website. $10 per person, under 12 free.

Saturday, June 2: 1:00 pm Charlottesville Democratic Nominating Convention for City Council Candidates, at the MLK Performing Arts Center at Charlottesville High School.

Tuesday, June 5: 7:00 pm. Left of Center on Women and Politics. Starr Hill gallery space.

Why is it that women remain underrepresented in all levels of government (especially in Virginia), and our nation's progress lags behind that of most developed (and developing) nations? Monday, June 11: 5:30-7:00 pm Please join us for a People’s College Community Conversation with renowned Multi-Media artist William Christenberry at the Quality Community Council, 327 W. Main St. Suite 101. The artist will discuss his Klan Room Tableau in the context of 40 years of art-making, and refreshments will be served.

Thursday, June 21: 5:00-7:00 pm Summer Reception at The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection off Free Expression At the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection, 400 Worrell Dr. (Peter Jefferson Pl) Aaron Fein will briefly introduce and display his Surrender Flags along with a talk by writer and radio essayist Janis Jaquith.

At the Observatory Hill Forum at the University of Virginia. The forum is located at the intersection of Alderman Road and McCormick Road in Charlottesville
