Friday, August 1: First Friday in Charlottesville. 5-9 pm at the Design Center, Downtown Mall at 5th Street NE Asylum and Acceptance: Seeking Peace in Charlottesville, VA, a photo-documentary project examining the experiences of Charlottesville's international refugee community. The opening culminates with a 7 pm panel of refugee youth who will share their experiences and perspectives as immigrants in Charlottesville.

Saturday, August 2: Daylong. Eleventh annual Westhaven Community Day. Family fun and health fair. 

Wednesday, August 13: 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. Debate between Tom Perriello and Virgil Goode at the Senior Center, 1180 Pepsi Place, Charlottesville. Admission free and the general public is welcome.

Thursday, August 14: 5:30 - 8:30 Fundraiser in Richmond for Tim Kaine's PAC Virginia Victory 2008. Including Governor Mark R. Warner; at the Science Museum of Virginia, 2500 West Broad Street, Richmond. $100 - $5,000 (not tax deductible).

Private Reception held in The Atrium from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm, General Reception held in The Rotunda from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Private Dinner held in RF&P Forum from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. Saturday, August 16: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Annual Charlottesville Democrats Outreach and Awards Picnic location The Park at UVA law school. We will honor the Scholarship Recipients, Drewary Brown Award Winner, Celebrate volunteers and have a grand time. Donations gratefully accepted, free food, entertainment.

Wednesday, August 20: 7:00 p.m. The Thomas Jefferson Center for the Protection of Free Expression cordially invites you to step back in time to 1830 and hear James Monroe (President of the United States 1817-1825 (as portrayed by Dennis Bigelow)) at The Community Chalkboard and Podium: Charlottesville’s Monument to the First Amendment
