Copy of a letter sent to Delegate David Toscano in answer to the "poll of the day" asking for opinions on legislation that would authorize a "Choose Life" license plate in Virginia.

Delegate Toscano,

George Loper’s blog included a link to your poll asking how your constituents feel about the proposed choose life license plate. Unfortunately I do not live in your district but I’m going to respond anyway. I don’t know why anyone would be opposed to the plate. It costs the Commonwealth nothing. Costs are borne by those who buy the plates. It is not an offensive message. Even those who believe that a woman should have the right to choose to terminate a pregnancy also believe that we should be doing more to help women who want to carry the baby to term. The funds for the plates will not go to organizations that espouse political or religious beliefs about the issue but instead will go to organizations that support women who do choose to keep the unborn child but who can not afford the medical care and other expenses associated with that. Would anyone dispute the nobility of that cause?
