George,

My son and I read, with amazement, the story [Liberty University rescinding recognition of campus Democratic Club] online last night. He saw the irony of the use of the word "Liberty" in their name, while I, being a professor at a different school, took greater issue with the use of the term "University."

While private entities have the right to their own bylaws, rules and regulations, it is impossible to reconcile the prohibition of the free exchange of ideas with the promise of an actual thoughtful and probing education--the task of a University. Liberty students are unfortunately getting neither.
