Monday, May 4: 11:00 a.m. Miller Center Forum. Jennifer Thompson-Cannino and Ronald Cotton. The book Picking Cotton: A Discussion of Injustice and Redemption details Thompson-Cannino's mistaken identification of Cotton as her rapist, his subsequent imprisonment and release, and their unlikely friendship. Monday, May 4: 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. We Shall Not Be Moved: The Story of the Tillery Resettlement Community documents an African American farming community’s struggle to survive and thrive from the 1930s through the present. At Sojourners United Church of Christ, 1017 Elliott Avenue, Charlottesville. Free and open to the public.

Wednesday, May 6: 5:30 p.m. Miller Center Forum. The Financial Crisis and the Administration's Response: A Banker and and Entrepreneur Comment. One of America's most successful independent bankers, U.Va. Law School graduate Mark GIles, and one of America's most successful venture capitalists, U.Va. graduate James B. Saturday, May 9: 9:00 a.m -7:00 p.m. Charlottesville City Democratic Party first unassembled caucus (sometimes known as a firehouse primary), to choose its candidates for local offices in the November General Election. At Burley Middle School, 901 Rose Hill Drive in the city. Voters will nominate two candidates for City Council and one candidate for City Sheriff, Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, and Commonwealth's Attorney. Monday, May 11: 5:30 p.m. Miller Center Forum Unfriendly Fire: How the Gay Ban Undermines the Military and Weakens America Nathaniel Frank is a specialist on the topic of marriage and military service rights for gays and lesbians. Monday, May 11: 6:00 Registration, 7:00 Doors close. Albemarle County Democratic Party Caucus will be held to nominate candidates for the 58th House of Delegates District and the Board of Supervisors from Samuel Miller District and Rio District. Albemarle County Office Building, McIntire Road, in the Auditorium. All registered voters in Albemarle County are welcome as well as those from other jurisdictions in the 57th and 58th Legislative Districts and the press.

Saturday, May 16: 9:30 a.m. Democratic Breakfast, JABA, 674 Hillsdale Drive. Highlighting the career of Sally Thomas, Board of Supervisors member from the Samuel Miller District who is retiring at the end of her term. Cynthia Neff, the candidate for the 58th Legislative District and Ann Mallek, Board of Supervisor member from White Hall will also be speaking. The public is invited. A light breakfast is served and a voluntary donation will be requested.
