Katherine McNamara has delivered a passionate, thorough, and well-supported rebuttal of Jean Wyant's letter objecting to placing a new Islamic center with mosque just a few blocks from the World Trade Center.

One bit almost buried in Katherine's letter should be enough to quiet all the misguided furor of the mosque's vocal opponents: the Pentagon, scene of the simultaneous bombing by Al Qaeda, has long sheltered a mosque within its very walls. To my knowledge, none of the drum-beaters for bigotry has lifted a finger or raised a voice about that sane decision.
