Thursday, September 15: 5:30 p.m. UVa Center for Politics presents Constitution Day 2011 in Garrett Hall. The new documentary, The Lord Is Not On Trial Here Today, will be screened. The film examines the historic McCollum v. Board of Education court case, in which the separation of church and state was questioned in public schools. Kennedy Library in Boston and a former staff assistant to President Kennedy, at the University of Virginia's Rotunda Dome Room. Fenn, also an adjunct lecturer at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, will share his experiences in the Kennedy White House and explore the similarities and differences between the Kennedy and Obama administrations. Monday September 26: 11:00 a.m. Miller Center Forum: America's Secret Campaign Against Al Qaeda, Thom Shanker and Eric Schmitt. Counterstrike tells the story of how a group of analysts created an innovative and effective way to fight terrorism. This new way, unbeknownst to most Americans, was in sharp contrast to the cowboy slogans typical of the U.S. government's public posture. Currently the Pentagon correspondent for The New York Times, Shanker previously served as foreign editor at The Chicago Tribune. Schmitt is a Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times senior writer, who covers terrorism and national security issues. A book signing will follow their Forum.
