Avery Lawrence spoke Thursday, May 6 at the New Dominion Bookshop on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall. His work, in classical Greek vase style [inset], illustrates a new edition of the Iliad & Odyssey, from Chester River Press. He created 50 color plates which are tipped-in to the two companion volumes.

Lawrence is the proprietor of The Pomp, an experimental-production workshop presently sharing space with Random Row Books, 315 West Main St., Charlottesville. The Pomp offers an array of design services and specializes, for the moment, in screen printing on paper, t-shirts and all other mostly-flat substrates.
